SPELLATHON
How it Works
Before the winter school holidays, each student will receive a list of 10 spelling words provided by the school. The word lists will also be shared digitally via the school WhatsApp community so they are easy to access during the holidays.
Students are encouraged to practise their words over the school holidays and have fun building their spelling skills.
On Tuesday, 28 July 2026, the Spellathon will take place during school hours. In class, teachers will read each of the 10 words aloud and students will write down their answers. The completed sheets will then be marked by the P&C.
This is a fun and inclusive activity designed to encourage participation, learning and school spirit. It is not a test and results will not be used to compare students or single anyone out.
Sponsorship
Students can seek sponsorship from family, friends, neighbours, grandparents and other supporters.
Sponsors can choose to donate any amount they wish to support a student’s participation in the Spellathon. Every donation, no matter how small, helps support our school community and fundraising goals.
And this year, students will help choose how those funds are spent! From STEM and sport to library and classroom resources, each class will have the chance to vote on where the money goes.
Importantly, all students are encouraged to participate, regardless of whether they collect sponsorship donations. Participation, learning and having fun are what matter most.
Prizes
Classes will compete for prizes, with winning classes determined by a combination of student participation, words spelt correctly, and funds raised through sponsorship.

Winning class prizes awarded on Friday 31 July 2026.
House points will also be awarded as part of the Spellathon, giving students another opportunity to contribute to their House while building their spelling skills and supporting the school.
